Bold foliage with showy fall color.
Heart-shaped, deeply lobed leaves form attractive basal rosettes, turning showy red and orange in fall. Airy spikes of greenish-white bell-shaped flowers rise above the foliage from May through July. One of the toughest alumroots, thriving in poor, sandy, or rocky soils where other plants struggle. Semi-evergreen foliage and effective as a groundcover.
