Nodding red-and-yellow lantern-shaped flowers dance on slender stems above delicate, fern-like blue-green foliage. One of the first native plants to provide nectar for returning ruby-throated hummingbirds. Self-seeds readily to fill gaps in woodland and shade gardens. Larval host for the Columbine Duskywing butterfly.
