Drymocallis arguta – Prairie Cinquefoil

Tough prairie native for dry soils.

Rosettes of creamy white, strawberry-like flowers top sturdy, hairy stems through midsummer. Covered in fine hairs that give the whole plant a soft, light-green appearance. Extremely drought tolerant thanks to a deep taproot. A workhorse native for challenging dry sites with poor or rocky soils.

Wildlife Value

Attracts small bees, halictid bees, syrphid flies, and moths. Host plant for the rare Dorcas Copper butterfly.
